CAVILAM language school and its teachers

CAVILAM is a non profit-making French language school. It was founded in 1964 by the universities of Clermont-Ferrand and the municipality of Vichy.

Open all year round, CAVILAM represents a crossroads of world cultures in France, where almost 4,000 students from over 110 different countries come to study French yearly. CAVILAM is renowned for innovation in the field of teaching French as a foreign language.
Teachers at CAVILAM are qualified and experienced in teaching either FLE (French as a foreign language) or modern languages. They are all trained in the use of the latest teaching methods and material which emphasize the linguistic needs of the students and lead to effective language-learning: working on authentic documents and situations requiring communicative skills, developing interactivity and creativity in the classroom, using task-based approaches and modern technologies applied to language teaching.
As well as teaching and training activities, CAVILAM teachers are involved in learning and teaching development with several editors and create teaching materials which are distributed world-wide for various news medias and institutions ( TV5Monde , Canal Académie , French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs) and regularly carry out in-house training sessions for teachers abroad at the request of French Institutes, French Alliances or universities.

CAVILAM is located on the university campus in Vichy next to the magnificent parks which border the banks of the Allier river, in a lush green environment conducive to studying. Our students can take advantage of the comfort of a modern and large (9000m²) building, fitted with state of the art technological equipment, language laboratories, interactive white boards, computer rooms, a multi-media resource centre, a university restaurant and free wifi access all over the campus.
Vichy town centre is located close by : all facilities are less than 10 minutes away on foot.

Vichy is a spa town , famous since ancient times, for the healing properties of its water. Vichy is also also a town of art and of history, well-known today for its cosmetics industry, its opera and its prime sports facilities (horse- racing course, golf course, tennis courts, rowing club…. around 350 acres dedicated to sports and leisure activities). Vichy offers an incomparable quality of life to those who spend time here in order to learn French and discover an authentic French region!
